Anti-GAD (anti-Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase)

Anti-GAD (anti-Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase)

Used for the semi-quantitative determination of anti-Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase concentration in human serum using the Kronus Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay kit for anti-Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase antibodies.

Insrument: Manual assay

Specimen Type: Serum

NOTE: Unable to report results for lipemic and grossly hemolyzed specimens.

Volume per test: 2 x 25uL (min volume 75uL)

Principle:

The KRONUS GAD autoantibody (GADAb) ELISA is an enzyme immunoassay, and depends on the ability of GAD autoantibodies to act divalently to form a bridge between GAD coated on ELISA plate wells and liquid phase GAD-biotin. Bound GAD-biotin is quantitated by addition of streptavidin peroxidase and a colorogenic substrate (TMB). The absorbance of each well at 450nm is directly proportional to the amount of antibody present. Calibrator values are plotted using a semi-log plot and the antibody concentration of each control and patient specimen is interpolated. The assay is semi-quantitative: samples <5 IU/mL are negative and samples >5 IU/mL are positive for presence of anti-GAD antibodies.

Testing Range: 5-120 IU
